The way I look at the internet, you have to deliver things in small packages and assume that 90% of the people will stop at the small package. But another 10% will drill down for more.

Or look at it another way. I could either make something weird and modestly clever, that’s short and self-contained, and that could go viral, or a straight-up book trailer that will be MUCH more difficult to make, will be a good deal longer, and will have a far worse chance of going viral.

Now, that said, could it still drive traffic?
Probably, some.
Just not as much as if you were able to get the viewer genuinely interested in the book.
A good number may very likely go “Hehe.” and move on without actually investigating the book itself. Despite the fact that if they read the book they would find it funny, there is nothing in the commercial to let them know the -book- is funny.

Just my two heavily critical cents.
I’m not sure exactly how book trailers are supposed to work either although I’ll let you know if I have any ideas.

Or just go with text? “You start with smoke signals and grunts.”

Then do The Immortal cover or something.

On a more positive note, congrats on having movie access.

Hellenic Immortal’s timeline is probably going to have it out in 2012, hopefully in the first couple of months of the year, but hang in there; it might not be until May.

Until then, what I need is as many vocal, enthusiastic readers as I can get…! Building readers helps! Especially in negotiating with distributors and what-not. So keep on shouting…

I literally finished the whole book in a little over two days of casual reading.

Not only have I recommended the book to my wife – but also my dad – who I think will both equally enjoy it.

So now I really only have one question -

When does the sequel come out? =)

OK, yes, he is my son but trust me, my critiques of his writings have rarely been this positive–and that’s been going on since his 16th birthday and the college app essays. (Have I apologized enough for that already?)

And after just those 4 pages – I purchased Immortal from amazon just like that. I can already tell if Adam has learned one thing in over 60,000 years – it’s a great sense of humor and wit.

I’m looking forward to reading it when it arrives in a couple of days and will post back when I have finished!

A couple of years back a friend at work, an evangelical christian from the south, said to me during the discussions of universal healthcare, “Aren’t you mad this is going to raise your taxes? Aren’t you mad there will be people taking advantage who aren’t really in need?” My answer was, “I can spare a few hundred dollars more a year for someone who needs help.
